General Scholarships


Baxter County Fair Scholarship- Due by12 Noon Wednesday, Sept. 11th  A $500 per semester scholarship is available to any high school senior or college freshman who is a Baxter County resident and has not been a prior recipient.  The applicant must have exhibited at least one year in the Baxter County Fair.


The United States Senate Youth Program (USSYP) - Due by October 4, 2019

Two students from each state will be chosen to spend a week in Washington DC to observe the national government in action. Juniors or seniors may apply. Delegates are selected based on outstanding ability and demonstrated qualities of leadership. Students must hold an elective office in a student government, civic, or educational organization sponsored by the student's school. If selected, the student must attend the Delegate Conference in order to receive the $10,000 scholarship. 

Engineers Scholarship Due October 6, 2019

Our belief is that achieving a high-grade point average should not be the only criteria for determining who deserves to be helped. For that reason, we are offering a $500 scholarship that will be awarded on the basis of character, as determined by the evaluated essays that are submitted.  Scholarships are intended for our future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. This award is available to high school seniors and all students attending a post-secondary educational facility.  You are not required to be taking Engineering courses to be eligible.

Moose Youth Awareness Program -  Due October 18, 2019

This program is for 9-12th-grade students. If you are interested, sign up with your career coaches by October 18th.  You can help other kids learn about the importance of making good decisions. You will select a topic of your choice and develop a presentation. Students that are chosen to represent Arkansas, will receive $1,000 and have the opportunity to attend the 2020 International Youth Awareness Congress in Mount Laurel, New Jersey from April 23-April 27. At the conclusion of the Congress, 5 students will be chosen to receive scholarships ranging from $2,000-$12,000. Click on the link to learn more about the Moose Fraternity.

Horatio Alger Scholarship- Due October 25, 2019, The Horatio Alger Scholarship provides financial assistance to students in the State of Arkansas who have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity and who aspire to pursue higher education.  Seven $5000 scholarships will be awarded to students who exhibit financial need.

VFW Voice of Democracy - Due by midnight, October 31, 2019  This program is open to students in grades 9-12.  Applicants must record a 3-5 minute audio essay written on this year's theme: "What Makes America Great".  State Winners receive an all-expense-paid trip to Washington D.C. The Grand prize is a $30,000 scholars

National Rice Month Scholarship Contest - Due October 31, 2019

High school graduating students from rice-growing states — Arkansas, California, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, and Texas are eligible to apply.  enter the contest, students will make an original video about rice production, healthy eating, sustainability, etc.  Students can also conduct promotion activities in their communities and showcase their work in a video. The grand-prize winner will receive a $4,000 scholarship and a trip with a chaperone this December to the awards ceremony at the 2019 USA Rice Outlook Conference in Little Rock, Arkansas. 


National Center For Learning Disabilities - Due November 12, 2018, High school seniors who have a documented learning disability or ADHD are welcome to apply

The Hagan Scholarship - Due November 15, 2019

The Hagan Scholarships are for high achieving and self-motivated students in need of financial assistance in order to attend college. These students will graduate from a public high school located in an eligible state and in a county having fewer than 50,000 residents. The Free Workshops and Schwab Investment Account are integral parts of the Scholarship. The average value of a four year Hagan Scholarship is about $24,000. To be eligible, the applicant must have a minimum ACT score of 23 and CGPA of 3.50 or higher. Click on the scholarship link for more details.

Most ValuaElksble Student Scholarship - Due November 5, 2019 Applicants will be judged on scholastic achievement, leadership, and financial need.  Applicant must be a US citizen. The student does not need to be related to an Elk.  The scholarship is only available to high school seniors.

Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame - Due December 31, 2018, A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to 4 Senior high school students. Two females and two males will be chosen based on an essay stating how sports have made a positive impact on your life. The essay must be received by the deadline. Applicant must attend an Arkansas College in the fall of 2018 to be eligible.


GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship - Due January 4, 2018

Approximately 20 college-bound students who demonstrate leadership, integrity, drive, and citizenship will be awarded $10,000 renewable scholarships, up to $40,000 total per recipient. To qualify, the student must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, be nominated by an eligible community leader, such as high school principal, and provide documentation to certify academic performance and financial need.

2020 American Legion Oratorical Scholarships - Due January 3, 2020, The High School Contest is to develop knowledge of appreciation of the Constitution of the United States.  Other objectives of the contest include the development of leadership qualities, the ability to speak clearly, intelligently, and acceptance of the responsibilities as well as the privileges of American citizenship. Scholarships are presented to the three finalists at the local Post 52 as follows: 1st place - $2,000; 2nd place - $1,500; and 3rd place - $1,000, and in the  final round of the national contest as follows: 1st place - $18,000; 2nd place - $16,000; 3rd place - $14,000.  

The Arkansas Association of Federal Coordinators (AAFC) - Due January 10, 2019   

The AAFC Scholarship to high school seniors to supplement college costs beginning their freshman year.  The scholarship award is $1,000.00for the first academic year, and will be awarded to full-time students who plan to major in education who enroll in an Arkansas college or university,

ACT Student Champion Award  Due by January 31, 2019, $500 will be awarded to one student. Applicant must have a minimum ACT score of 22 or have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and must have overcome challenges in their life. Preference will be given to underrepresented and/or first-generation college students


NWFA Scholarship- Due February 1, 2018, The National Wood Flooring Association Scholarship is for any high school senior with a 3.0 GPA or higher, 25 or higher ACT, and who plans to major in forestry or a related field. This is a $1,000 nonrenewable scholarship. All required items along with application must be postmarked by February 1st to be considered.

Elks National Foundation Legacy Award Competition Due February 2, 2018, This Scholarship will be awarded to the child, grandchild, stepchild or stepgrandchild of an Elks member. The winners will be awarded $4,000 ($1,000 per year for four years.)

2018 Honors Grad U Multimedia Scholarship Due February 11, 2018Any high school senior is eligible to apply. There are 3 phases to this scholarship process. Submit your proposal for how you can better your community. Five students will be awarded $10,000 towards college tuition. Click on scholarship link for complete details.

2019 Bill Of Rights Institute Scholarship- Due February 14, 2019

Winners of this year’s contest will receive a total of $20,000 in scholarship funds including a $5,000 award and a scholarship to 2019 Constitutional Academy to the grand prize winner. This year we are asking students to personalize their essays while encouraging them to expand their understanding of citizenship beyond an abstract concept, envisioning it as knowledge and actions inspired by America’s founding principles.
The specific essay prompt this year is: “What are essential qualities of a citizen in your community in 21st century America?”

Plant Management Assoc Scholarship  - Due February 1, 2019

Scholarship amount will range from $500 to $1,500 depending on candidate interest, evaluation results and upon recommendation from the Scholarship Committee. Any graduating high school senior or college student through their junior year can apply.  Selection criteria is a financial need, academic achievement, co-curricular participation, community service, and essay response. 

THEA Foundation/Visual Arts Scholarship - Due February 26, 2018

This year's theme is "A visceral moment, occluded by one's intellect." Entries will be judged based on the interpretation of theme, originality, and design. 2D or 3D entries will be accepted. Scholarship amounts will vary from $4,000-$2,000 with multiple winners

Parenting-Cyberbullying Prevention for Teens Scholarship - Due February 28, 2018 Any high school or college student can enter to win $1,250. Applicant must write an essay of 600-1000 words on the topic "Why and How to stop cyberbullying?" Submit your article by February 28, 2018, to be considered. To be eligible, the applicant must follow the guidelines. 


Schliemann Center for Women's Health Education Scholarship at BRMC - Due March 1, 2019  

Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation - Due March 1 Students can apply for CTE, undergraduate, or associate degree scholarships. Applicants must be the child of active duty, reserve, or veteran of US Marine. Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 and an annual family adjusted gross income no greater than $98,000.

American Legion Auxiliary Academic Scholarship - Due by March 1, 2018

$1,000 will be awarded to an Arkansas high school senior who is a descendant of a war veteran and demonstrates financial need. Applicant's total annual family income can not exceed $75,000. Application and ALL required documents must be received at the local American Legion Auxiliary by March 1, 2018. American Legion Auxiliary Nursing Scholarship - Due By March 1, 2018

$500 will be awarded to an Arkansas high school senior who is a descendant of a war veteran and demonstrates financial need. Applicant's total annual family income can not exceed $75,000. Application and ALL required documents must be received at the local American Legion Auxiliary by March 1, 2018. Mail to Alley-White American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 52, Attn: Suzan Kaye, 1st VP, 717 Market Street, Mountain Home, AR 72653.

McCain Scholarship - Due by March 1 Any Arkansas student in 11th or 12th grade presently enrolled in a public, private, or homeschool can apply. Applicant must submit an application and an essay. See attached application instructions for specific guidelines. Winner of this scholarship will receive a $500 award.

CTE  Completer Scholarship - Due by March 7, 2019

$500 scholarship open to any MHHS graduating senior who has completed one or more programs of study while maintaining an overall 2.0 GPA with a C or better in the completed program of study in which they are applying.  A SEPARATE APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED FOR EACH PROGRAM OF STUDY YOU ARE APPLYING FOR. Applications must be turned in to Mrs. Sheri Smith by the due date.

The American Legion Coudret Trust Scholarship & Garner Trust Scholarship -Due by March 13, 2020

The American Legion, Department of Arkansas, is offering eight (8) scholarships to be awarded in the spring.  Four of the scholarships are from the Coudret Trust Foundation in the amount of $1,000 each and four are from the Garner Trust Foundation in the amount of $2,500 each.  The criteria for the two scholarship programs differ and will be available only to eligible students.  Selections are based on American spirit, character, leadership quality, scholastic endeavor, and basis of need. Area Art Club- Due by March 15, 2019, A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to 2018 graduating high school senior that plans to enroll at an accredited university or art school as an art major. Applicant must submit an application, short summary of interests and goals, a list of awards, a transcript, and two letters of recommendation. 

NAEC Youth Tour Application 2019 - Due by March 14, 2019 For Juniors ONLY  If you are a junior for, 2019-2020 school year and your parents/guardians are members of the North Arkansas Cooperative, you are eligible to apply for an all-expense-paid a trip to Washington D.C. June 8-14 2018. Applications must be submitted by a due date to be considered.

MHEF Fine Arts Concentration Scholarship - Due by March 15, 2019

Any MHHS graduating senior that has completed one or more Fine Arts concentration program of study, while maintaining a 2.0 overall GPA with a C or better in a completed program of study may qualify for a $500 scholarship. Completed application along with a transcript, personal essay, a letter of recommendation, and cover sheet must be received by March 16th. Applications must be delivered to your Fine Arts Teacher.

UAMS Summer Pharmacy Camp 2018 - Apply by March 16, 2018

Only juniors or seniors are eligible to apply. Students interested must submit an application, ACT scores, official transcript, and 2 letters of recommendation by the deadline. Recommendation letters must be from a counselor and/or math or science teacher. Camp will take place June 10-15th. This camp is designed to incorporate active participation in a broad spectrum of learning experiences for qualifying students that plan to enter the field of Pharmacy. Camp tuition is $400 and there are scholarships available to help with tuition cost.

Nancy Luelf Memorial Junior Auxiliary Scholarship - Due by March 15, 2019 Applicant must be pursuing studies in fields which address the needs of children and youth.  The applicant must be a graduating senior that lives in Baxter County, have a GPA of 3.0, have financial need, and have done community service. Must submit completed application with a letter of recommendation and a photo. 

Centennial Bank Athletic Achievement-Community Service Scholarship- Due by March 28, 2018$1,000 will be given to 5 male athletes and 5 female athletes that meet the following criteria: must have a min. cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, a minimum ACT score of 21or higher, must be a senior athlete registered with AAA, must meet NCAA scholarship rules, display good leadership skills, and must have participated in other school activities.

Bull Shoals - Lakeview Rotary Scholarship  by March 29,-Due 2019 To be eligible for this scholarship, the applicant MUST LIVE in Bull Shoals, Flippin, Midway, or Lakeview AND attend school at Flippin, Mountain Home, or be Home Schooled. Applications MUST be typed, neat, and complete. Applications must be received in the high school Counselors' office by Friday, March 29,2019

LDAA- Ralph Norman Scholarship-  Due by March 30, 2019, The Learning Disabilities Scholarship for an individual with a documented learning disabilitiy.

The Frederick H. and Kathleen H. Hornlein Scholarship - Due by March 31, 2019 Only students who have attended MHHS in MH, AR are eligible for the scholarship.  This includes students who attended MHHS and later received their G.E.D. or graduated from another high school.  The selection criteria for the applicant is a financial need, character, and scholastic ability. Students can reapply for this scholarship each year but should apply using the reapplication. Applications may be mailed or hand delivered but must be received by the end of the business day of the due date. See attached Hornlein Scholarship Booklet for eligibility requirements.

Janice M. Scott Memorial Scholarship - Due by March 31 Between three and five scholarships will be awarded.  Click on the Criteria Sheet for details. These scholarships will be issued on a one-time basis.  The graduating student must have a 3.0 GPA or higher, demonstrated leadership abilities, and will be attending a full time accredited four-year college or university. Parents combined adjusted income cannot exceed $50,000. See checksheet for additional requirements.

Shelter Insurance Scholarship - Due March 31 One senior will be awarded $2,000 based on scholastic achievements, participation, and leadership in school and community activities, and their reputation for good citizenship and good moral character. This scholarship is offered to graduating seniors at high schools where a Shelter Insurance Agent is actively participating in a Shelter Insurance Foundation Scholarship Program for the current school year. The applications must be received in the High School Counselors' office by 3:00 pm on the due date.

Stanley F. Novak & Robert W. Griffith Memorial Scholarship - Due by March 30, 2019, Sponsored by The American Legion Alley-White Post 52, two scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors from Baxter County. This scholarship is for $1,000 per year for up to 4 years if a student maintains 2.5 GPA each year. Applicant should submit an application and all supporting documents by the due date to Alley-White American Post 52. 

Arthur J. and Blanch D. Raef Scholarship - Due by March 31, 2019 Recipients of this award must provide proof of admission to Arkansas State University Mountain Home. This scholarship is awarded based on academic achievement, extracurricular achievements, and financial need. Scholarships are awarded for one year at a time. Recipients who wish to reapply for the next school year may do so using a           re-application form. 

Twin Lakes Playhouse-Performing Arts Scholarship - Due by March 31, 2019 High school seniors or current college students can apply but all applicants must be pursuing a performing arts degree at an accredited school. Application and all supporting documents must be postmarked by due date. The award ranges from $500-$1,000. 


(ASPMA) The Arkansas School Plant Management Association Scholarship - Due April 1, 2019

Any high school senior with a minimum GPA of 3.0, at least a 19 ACT test score, and planning to attend a College/University, Vocational-Technical or Trade School is eligible to apply. Scholarships will be awarded to students based on their leadership, scholastic achievement, and civic participation. Scholarships range from $1,000-$5,000 and are renewable when funds are available.  

The Gaylon Raney Memorial Scholarship Due by April 1, 2019 This $2,000 scholarship will be awarded to an applicant with the best essay of 1000 words or less stating why they should be chosen for this award.

The Hayden Padgett Safe in HIS Arms Scholarship -Due April 1, 2019 This is a one time $1,000 scholarship awarded to a graduating MHHS student. The application must be received in the MHHS Counselors' office by April 1 

Virtual Business Scholarship - Due by April 1

Knowledge Matters, the maker of Virtual Business simulations, is pleased to announce the annual Virtual Business Scholarship for high school business, marketing and personal finance students currently enrolled in their junior and senior years of high school throughout the United States. This scholarship is intended to help eligible applicants defray the costs of their continuing education. The scholarship applications will be judged nationally and the winner will receive $2,000.

MHEF Scholarship Application Due April 1st 2019

The Mountain Home Education Foundation is pleased to offer the following scholarships: Dr. James Dunbar Scholarship, Bertha and Kirby Smith Scholarship (for those going in to Education), Mock Strickland Scholarship (for those going in to broadcasting and communications), Mildred Griffith Scholarship, Keith Hamm Scholarship (awarded to students following a degree in music), Amanda Wallace Scholarship, Lucille Carlson Scholarship, Mike Huett Scholarship, Nell Powell Wright Scholarship, Louis and Margie Knight Scholarship, Baxter County Bar Association, Suddenlink Communications Scholarship, Completer Scholarships and Mr. and Miss MHHS Scholarships. While the Completer Scholarships are earned by course studies at Mountain Home High School and Mr. and Miss MHHS scholarships are awarded to students who place in the high school sponsored contest, the requirements for the remaining scholarships are as follows: 1) the applicant must be an MHHS graduate; 2) the applicant must have at least a 2.5 Grade Point Average. In addition, the Mountain Home Rotary Scholarship recipients for MHHS seniors will be determined by the MHEF scholarship application.

Friends of the Library Scholarship Due April 1,2019

Applicants will complete the attached application and write an essay. Applicants must be a resident of Baxter County, graduate from a public high school, have a GPA of 2.5 or higher and have been accepted by an accredited school of higher education.  The application, essay and cover letter with personal information should be mailed to the DW Reynolds Library Director by the due date. The scholarship amount is $1,000

Mountain Home Rotary Scholarship - Due by April 1, 2019 This scholarship is for any senior who will attend any college other than ASUMH, if you plan to attend ASUMH, you will only need to fill out the MHEF Scholarship application. 

Arkansas Rural Ed. Association Scholarship (All Seniors) or (School/Co-op Employee's Child) -Due in Counselors' office by April 5, 2019

There are two different scholarships available. One is for any senior at MHHS and the other one is only for the children of Mountain Home public school/co-op employees. Both of these scholarships are $1,000 awards for 4 years pending proof of college registration each year. Submit application, letters of recommendation, essay, and all supporting documents to the MHHS Counselors' office by April 5, 2019.

MH Kiwanis Club Scholarship - Due by April 5, 2019, Required documents to apply are an official transcript, ACT or SAT scores, evidence of extracurricular activities, work experience. a letter of intent from applicant and two letters of reference. There will be 6 $1,000 scholarships awarded.

Mountain Home Lodge B.P.O.E. No. 1714 Local Elks Scholarship - Due by April 5, 2019 at Noon The Elks' Lodge will award multiple $1,000 scholarships to area high school seniors. Applicants will be judged on application with GPA/ACT scores, activities & honors, and financial need. The completed application must be received by the Lodge by noon on the due date. 

The American Legion Legacy Scholarship - Due April 9, 2018 This scholarship is for high school seniors and college students that qualify and provide the required documents with the application. Scholarships are for child/children of disabled veterans of 911 or fallen veterans of 911. Amounts of scholarships vary.

North Central Board of Realtors® Scholarship - Due by April 11, 2019, Two $500 non-renewable scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors from the area who are planning to attend a university of their choice in the fall of 2017.  Applicants from REALTOR® families or our Affiliates will be given first consideration.

North Central Board of Realtors- Charles Blackburn- ASU Scholarship.  Due by April 12,2019  This is for a student who is currently enrolled in ASU

Ernest Whitelaw American Indian Scholarship.   Due by April 12, 2019, Tp be eligible for this scholarship applicants must be documentable Native American descent from a federally recognized tribe  

Harvey, Lippold, and Beyer Scholarship - Due by April 12, 2019

These three scholarships are for graduating seniors at MHHS. The Harvey Scholarship is for education majors, preference given to future Math or Science teachers. The  Lippold Scholarship is based on financial need.  The Beyer Scholarship is based on financial need plus the student must be in the upper one-half of the class academically. If you apply for more than one of this scholarship, fill out a separate application for each one and mark which scholarship you are applying for on each application.

Baxter County Cattlemen's Assoc Scholarship Due by April 12, 2019

Applicant must be starting college as a Freshman, a Baxter County resident, planning on a career related to cattle industry or continued interest in the cattle industry. Selections are based on character, financial need, academic achievement, and other criteria. Preference is given to children and grandchildren of ACA members. Scholarship money must be used in the 2019-2020 school year

The Kelder Scholarship - Due by April 12, 2019

Only students who are pursuing studies in foreign languages (whether or not as their college or university within the state of Arkansas and whose interest is in teaching foreign languages are eligible for the scholarship.  Those who are planning to teach foreign languages within the state of Arkansas will be given preference to the scholarship awards.  Must be a full-time student.  Scholarships are awarded for one year at a time. North Arkansas Electric - Operation Roundup Due by April 12, 2019   This scholarship is available for any graduating senior whose parents or guardians are members of the NAEC.

Fellowship Cumberland Presbyterian Church Joyce Cook Memorial Scholarship - Due April 13, 2019, Open to all MHHS Seniors. Complete application with 3 letters of recommendation.  Applications must be turned in at the MHHS Counselors' office by the due date.

Baxter County Farm Bureau Scholarship - Due by April 19, 2019, A parent or guardian MUST be a member of Baxter County Farm Bureau; student must reside in Baxter county; must be a spring graduate of the year applying; must have an agriculture background or be going into an agriculture-related field. 

NAEC Scholarship - Due by April 12, 2019Must be 2018 graduating senior whose parents or guardians are members of North Arkansas Electric Cooperative.  Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale through the first semester of their senior year, the application must be typed.

Free Verse Poetry Group Scholarship - Due April 15, 2018 Any MHHS senior can submit an original piece of poetry. You pick the subject, style, and length. Poetry must be submitted by the deadline to be considered for this $300 scholarship award. Click on the scholarship for more details.

The Robert J. Stewart Education Scholarship - Due by April 15, 2019, This scholarship SHALL NOT be awarded strictly based on prior classroom performance.  The Donor desires to assist students with the self-determination to pursue further education in an effort to better him or herself. This scholarship is available for High School Seniors only. Applications must be received by the end of the business day on April 15th.

William H. Thompson Educational Scholarship - Due by April 15th, 2019 Applicants must attend a Vocational-Technical or Trade School. Award is based on financial need. The number of scholarships and the amounts of each scholarship will be determined by the Trustee.  See application for more details. The application must be received by April 15. Twin 

Twin Lakes Home Builders Assoc. Scholarship - Due April 15, 2019

MHHS seniors or college students that will be attending ASUMH in the fall of 2018 are eligible for multiple scholarships that will be awarded in various amounts. Applicants do NOT have to be affiliated to the Home Builders Association in any way to apply. 

Alley-White American Legion Auxiliary Unit 52 Scholarship - Due by April 15, 2019

Sponsored by Alley-White American Legion Auxiliary Unit 52.  Letters of application are now being accepted for ONE $1000 general continuing education scholarship.  All graduating high school seniors who attend school in Baxter County, including those are homeschooled, are eligible to apply.  Please read the instructions carefully to be sure you have included all necessary information in your Letter of Application. Mail to Alley-White American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 52, Attn: Scholarship Committee, 717 Market Street, Mountain Home, AR 72653.


DAR(Daughters of the American Revolution Captain Nathan Watkins Chapter) Scholarship Due by May 1, 2019,  This is one time nonrenewable $1,000 scholarship for a senior's freshman year in college. Application along with an official transcript, 2 letters of recommendation, and typed statement must be emailed or mailed by the due date.  

Twin Lakes Retired Police Officers Scholarship - Due May 31st, 2019  This Scholarship is for the children or grandchildren of active and retired law enforcement officers. All applicants must reside in Baxter County.

BCU Scholarship  Due by May 17.2019   Baxter County Credit Union Scholarship for students whose parents are a member of the credit union.

Cameo Club G.F.W.C. Scholarship   Due in the Counselor's office by May 3rd,2019
