The Mission of the MHPS school counseling program is to foster and strengthen student academic, social, and emotional development utilizing data. In partnership with the learning community, all students will be empowered by the school counseling program to succeed as lifelong learners and make a positive impact on school and community.  

It is the Vision of the MHPS counselors to assume a shared responsibility for the academic, career, and social/emotional development of all students and for them to become productive citizens of their community.  

Students and guardians are encouraged to email counseling staff to inquire about any needs. Guardians may also call (870) 425-1224.

Counseling Program Goals

  • Help students develop positive attitudes toward themselves, family, school, and community.

  • Provide assistance to students individually and in groups, so they can appreciate their own unique qualities and grow personally and socially.

  • Teach students skills for achieving academic and personal success.

  • Assist students in becoming invested in their academic  success by showing them how school performances relate to future opportunities.

  • Work closely with students, parents, and teachers to identify and remove barriers that impede student achievement.

  • Support the instructional program and the school’s mission and goals.

In order to facilitate goals, counselors work in collaboration with the student, parent, and faculty. 

MHHS Contracts With the Following Agency to Offer School Based Mental Health Services:  Hometown Behavioral Health
