MHEF Promise Scholarship (Note: Students may apply throughout the year, but the final deadline is June 30, 2025)
This scholarship is only for students who graduate from Mountain Home High School and will attend ASUMH. The Mountain Home Promise pays the remaining tuition after all other grants and scholarships have been applied. The Promise does not include payment for fees, books, or supplies. Students are responsible for these costs.

Baxter County Fair Scholarship - Due by noon on Wednesday of the Baxter County Fair.
A $1250 scholarship is available. Any high school senior or college freshman who is a Baxter County resident and has not been a prior recipient may apply. The applicant must have exhibited at least one year in the Baxter County Fair.

American Legion Oratorical Scholarship - Opens September 13, 2024 on the local level.
This contest is open to 9-12th graders. Those gifted in public speaking and presenting are encouraged to participate. The purpose of this national scholarship is to develop knowledge and appreciation of the Constitution of the United States. Other objectives of the contest include the development of leadership qualities, the ability to speak clearly and intelligently, and acceptance of the responsibilities as well as the privileges of American citizenship.The Post level contest will be on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at noon at the Alley-White Post 52, 717 Market St. Mountain Home. Our Prizes are $1000 for First Place, $750 for Second Place, and $500 for Third Place. The First Place winner will represent Post 52 at the Department Arkansas contest. The Department contest will take place on Saturday morning, March 22, 2025. The following cash scholarships will be awarded: • $2,000 for First Place • $1,500 for Second Place • $1,000 for Third Place. The Department winner will represent The Department of Arkansas at the National level, which includes an all-expense paid trip with a chaperone to Indianapolis, Indiana. The student will receive an additional cash scholarship award of $1500.00 for attending the Indianapolis Contest. Scholarships are presented to the three finalists in the final round of the national contests as follows: 1st place - $25,000; 2nd place - $22,500; 3rd place - $20,000. Arkansas School Board Association Student Essay and Speaking Contest - Due October 11, 2024
The Arkansas School Boards Association is excited to once again host a personal essay and speaking contest, offering Arkansas 11th and 12th graders the chance to present before school board members and administrators at the 2024 ASBA Annual Conference, to be held December 11-13, 2024, at the Little Rock Marriott - Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock. This year's topic, "Schools of the Future," encourages students to share innovative ideas for redesigning education with new technologies, flexible schedules, and creative teaching methods.Participants have the chance to win cash prizes—$1,000 for 1st place, $750 for 2nd place, $500 for 3rd place, and $250 for honorable mention! Winners will also present their essays at the conference, receive recognition on the ASBA website and social media, and have their work featured in the ASBA quarterly publication, Report Card. Open to juniors and seniors from ASBA member schools (1 submission per member district - Each district may choose its applicant using the method it deems most appropriate.) Students are asked to submit the following materials to the College and Career Office (room 103) by no later than Friday, October 11: 1) 600-750 word essay on the theme “Schools of the Future,” 2) a video of the essay presented as a speech. All entries will be judged at the district level. From there, one winner will be chosen to submit their application to the ASBA contest which will include their essay, video, and a signed parental release form. Please do not fill out the online application. Again, your materials must be submitted to the College and Career Coaching office so that a district winner can be chosen.
VFW Voice of Democracy - Due October 31, 2024
This program is open to students in grades 9-12. Applicants must record a 3-5 minute audio essay written on this year's theme: “Is America Today Our Forefathers’ Vision?” Prizes and scholarships can be awarded at the post, district, state and national levels. Cystic Fibrosis Association of West Plains - Due November 1, 2024
The purpose of this $2,500-$3,000 scholarship is to provide financial assistance for advanced education for those students with cystic fibrosis or their family members to further their education and to aid them to serve as a role model for other cystic fibrosis patients and families. Cystic fibrosis patients, parents, siblings, and spouses are eligible.There is another cycle of this scholarship in March.
Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship - Due November 12, 2024
This scholarship is only available to high school senior students. Applicants will be judged on scholastic achievement, leadership, and financial need. The applicant must be a US citizen and does not need to be related to a member of the Elks.

Baxter Medical/Nursing Scholarships - Various Deadlines Throughout the Year
Please check the list of available scholarships and criteria to see which one is right for you. Please note that only one scholarship will be awarded per applicant. All scholarships, unless otherwise noted, require a work commitment of 60 hours per pay period (two weeks); six months for every $5,000 in scholarship monies received, or it must be repaid. Time counted towards work commitment does not start until after graduation. In order to maintain your scholarship, students are required to submit a renewal form each term with their current transcripts with a GPA of 2.50 or higher.
Earl Collins Kiwanis Scholarship - January 31, 2025
This $1,000 scholarship for seniors, awarded by the Missouri-Arkansas District of Kiwanis requires an official copy of your transcript; two letters of recommendation; a record of your volunteer services hours and leadership activities; a statement of educational objective; and a listing of any honors that you have received. These items, along with the Kiwanis scholarship application, must be submitted to your local Mountain Home Kiwanis by no later than January 26. Mail to Kiwanis Club of Mountain Home, P.O. Box 1527, Mountain Home, AR 72654 or stop by the Farmers and Merchants Bank at 502 Hickory Street and turn in your application to a teller in the lobby.

ACTE J. Marion Adams Divisional Scholarship - Due February 1, 2025
Each Division is allowed one $500 scholarship for a high school senior. Sponsors may submit one application for each Division of which they are a member. These scholarships are awarded in honor of the late J. Marion Adams. Applicants must be high school seniors enrolled in an approved CTE (career and technical education) program and must be graduating from an Arkansas high school in the year in which the application is made. The applicant’s CTE teacher/sponsor must be an ACTE Member. Several supporting documents are required in addition to the scholarship application.
Arkansas Association of Conservation Districts Dave Ferguson Conservation Scholarship - Due February 7, 2025
This scholarship is open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors. The scholarship applicants must live in the district, have a GPA of at least 2.5, and intend to follow a conservation related major at an Arkansas college or university. With the entry they are required to include two letters of recommendation and an essay. The topic for the essay is “Home is Where the Habitat Is.” There will be a $500 scholarship award for the area contest. The student who wins the area contest will go to the state competition for a larger scholarship. Bull Shoals - Lakeview Rotary Club Scholarship - Due February 28, 2025
To be eligible, applicants must live in Bull Shoals, Flippin, Midway, or Lakeview and attend Mountain Home HS, Flippin HS, or be Homeschooled. This scholarship is for college-bound students and vocational/trade training. Applications must be typed, neat, and complete. Applications must be received in the career coaches' office by the deadline.

American Legion Auxiliary- The National Organization’s “Spirit of Youth” Scholarship for Junior Members - Due March 1, 2025
One local winner will be chosen and forwarded to the state office in Little Rock for further consideration. This application is fillable online, but must be printed out and sent (or brought) to Alley-White ALA Unit 52 at 717 Market Street, MH 72653. Five scholarships, in the amount of $5,000 each, will be awarded to high school senior students. Candidates must have been Junior members of the American Legion Auxiliary for the past three consecutive years (2021, 2022, and 2023), and must be a paid member for the current membership year (2024). This is a scholarship to attend an accredited institution of higher education. Applicants must be of good character and have grades that meet entrance requirements at the institution of their choice. Applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA using a 4.0 scale.
Baxter County Conservation District Scholarship - Due March 3, 2025
Applicants must be seniors who reside in Baxter County, Arkansas who are planning to major in conservation, agriculture, or another related field. A GPA of 2.5 or higher is required and ACT scores must be provided. Two letters of reference must be included in the application.

BRMC Employee Children & Grandchildren Scholarship - Due March 15, 2025
The Baxter Health Employee Children and Grandchildren Scholarship was created for the purpose of providing financial assistance to students who demonstrate a strong desire to further their education and have a financial need. Applicants must be current high school seniors with a parent/grandparent who is a Baxter Health employee in good standing for at least a year and has worked a minimum of 500 hours in the past year. Student GPA must be a 2.0 or higher. This scholarship awards $500 per semester for a total of $1,000. Mountain Home Kiwanis Club Scholarship - Due March 21, 2025 (postmarked by March 15th if mailed)
Required documents to apply are an official transcript, ACT or SAT scores, and evidence of extracurricular activities/volunteerism. A statement of educational plans/goals from the applicant and two letters of reference are required. $1,000 scholarship will be awarded.
Class of 2025 CTE Completer Scholarship - Due March 21, 2025
Scholarships are open to any MHHSCA graduating senior who has completed one or more CTE Programs of Study while maintaining an overall 2.0 GPA with a C or better in the completed Program of Study in which they are applying. A separate application MUST be filled out for each program of study the student is applying for. A personal essay and a letter of recommendation are required. This is a $500 scholarship.
The Hornlein Scholarship (Farmer & Merchants Bank) - Due March 31, 2025
Only students who have attended MHHS in MH, AR are eligible for the scholarship. This includes students who attended MHHS and later received their G.E.D. or graduated from another high school. The selection criteria for the applicant is a financial need, character, and scholastic ability. Students can reapply for this scholarship each year but should apply using the reapplication. First Security Bank Arthur J. and Blanch D. Raef Scholarship - Due by March 31, 2025
This scholarship is for full-time students who are attending ASUMH. It is awarded based on academic achievements, extracurricular achievements, and financial need. Scholarships are awarded for one year at a time. Recipients who wish to reapply for the next school year may do so by filling out a new application. Three reference letters are required, as well as other documentation.

The Mountain Home Education Foundation is pleased to offer the following scholarships: Dr. James Dunbar Scholarship, Bertha and Kirby Smith Scholarship (for those going in to Education), Teresa Ott Memorial Scholarship, Dr. Simon Abraham Memorial Scholarship, Dr. Max Cheney Memorial Scholarship, Cliff & Frieda Schroeder Scholarship, Friends of the North Fork and White Rivers Scholarships, Baxter County Football Association Scholarship, Mildred Griffith Scholarship, Lucille Carlson Scholarship, Mike Huett Scholarship, Nell Powell Wright Scholarship, Louis and Margie Knight Scholarship, Baxter County Bar Association, Dr. Sara Smith Scholarship, Completer Scholarships and Mr. and Miss MHHS Scholarships. Baxter Regional Foundation Scholarships - Due Dates: April 1, 2025 (Summer I, II Terms and Interim), and July 1, 2025 (Fall Semester)
Apply for as many scholarships as you wish under the common application, however, each applicant may only be the recipient of one scholarship at a time. The decision for which scholarship you will receive will be at the sole discretion of the Baxter Health Scholarship Committee. A scholarship renewal form is required to be submitted every semester/term. An unofficial high school or most recent college transcript and letter outlining career goals and financial need must be submitted with the application. Scholarships include the Ruth Elizabeth Anderson and Mary Jane Downes Trust Endowment Scholarship Fund, the Caroline Austino Trust Scholarship Fund, Arthur F. Baker and Bonny B. Baker Nursing Education Scholarship Trust Fund, the Jimmy Leon McLean Cardiac Nursing Scholarship, and the BH Employee Education Assistance Scholarship & BH RN – BSN/MSN Scholarship. Friends of the Baxter County Library Scholarship - Due April 1, 2025
The Friends of the Baxter County Library Scholarship is open to high school graduating seniors who have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher and have been accepted by an accredited school of higher education. Award amounts range from $750-$1,500 and four scholarships are given. Application includes a 1,000-2,000 word essay.
Baxter County Farm Bureau Scholarship - Due April 1, 2025
Three $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors. Must reside in Baxter County and parent/guardian must be a member of Baxter County Farm Bureau. Agriculture is preferred, but not required. Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and 15 ACT composite. Letters of reference are required, please see requirements.
MHEF Fine Arts Concentration Achiever Scholarship - Due April 4, 2025
For any MHHS graduating senior who has earned four credits in either Instrumental Music, Theatre, Vocal Music or Visual Art while maintaining an overall 2.0 GPA with a C or better in the completed program of study.. Completed application along with transcript, personal essay, letter of recommendation, and cover sheet must be delivered to the student’s Fine Arts teacher. This is a $500 scholarship.
Benbrook Scholarship (Farmers & Merchants Bank) - Due April 5, 2025
This scholarship is available to students who live in the Norfork School District. Needed attachments include a copy of the most recent 1040 tax return; transcript; ACT/SAT scores; a letter providing information about yourself and your need for this scholarship; and two letters of character reference.
Kelder Scholarship (Farmer & Merchants Bank) - Due April 12, 2025
For students who are pursuing studies in foreign languages as an undergraduate or graduate student at a university in Arkansas. For students who are graduating or have graduated from a high school in Baxter County. The Adeline L. H. Dvorak scholarship is for students of German heritage. The Clarence C. Dvorak scholarship is for students of Czech heritage. Students must possess good character and have a B average or better.
Harvey, Lippold, and Beyer Scholarships (Farmer & Merchants Bank) - Due April 12, 2025
These three scholarships are for graduating seniors of MHHS. The Harvey Scholarship is for education majors, preference given to future Math or Science teachers. The Lippold Scholarship is based on financial need for students who will attend college, technical/trade, or vocational school. The Beyer Scholarship is based on financial need plus the student must be in the upper one-half of the class academically. North Central Board of Realtors Scholarship - Due April 14, 2025
These scholarships will be offered to graduating seniors from Baxter and Marion counties, who are planning to attend trade schools following graduation. Applicants from REALTOR® families or affiliates will be given first consideration. Award may be used for other school expenses (i.e. books, lab fees, etc.), not only tuition. Awards will be paid directly to the school once confirmation of the student’s enrollment has been received.
Baxter County Cattlemen's Association Scholarship - Due April 15, 2025
The applicant must be a starting college freshman, a Baxter county resident, planning on a career related to cattle industry or a continued interest in the cattle industry. Selections are based on the following: character, career plans, leadership potential, community involvement, agriculture involvement, financial need and academic achievement. Preference may be given to children or grandchildren of ACA members. If awarded the scholarship, it must be used in the school year of 2025-2026. Scholarship amount: $500.
Twin Lakes Playhouse Performing Arts Scholarship - Due April 15, 2025
The Twin Lakes Playhouse awards the Performing Arts Scholarship on a yearly basis to a qualifying high school graduating senior or a matriculated college student who plans to pursue a major or elective in performing arts at an accredited school of higher education. The award ranges in price from $500-$1000.
Alley-White American Legion Post 52 Memorial Scholarship - Due April 15, 2025
All graduating high school seniors who attend school in Baxter County (including those who are home-schooled or attend private schools), or are relatives of a Post 52 member in good standing are eligible to apply. Applicants must provide documentation that they currently have a relative serving on active duty in the United States Armed Forces, or that one of their parents, grandparents or great-grandparents is a military veteran (any branch of service, any era). These two scholarships have been made possible by generous donations from the estates of Legionnaires Stanley F. Novak and Robert W. Griffith. Students are eligible for $1000 per year for up to 4 years, provided they maintain a 2.5 GPA each year. Must submit an essay on “What Veterans Mean to Me.”
The Caroline Meriwether Goodlett Chapter #2644 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy Scholarship - Due April 15, 2025
A $200 scholarship will be awarded to a senior student who can prove Confederate family lineage man or woman who served in the Army, Navy, or Civil Service of the Confederate States of America or gave Material Aid to the Cause (e.g., nurse, scout, blockade runner, financial or other support to troops). American Legion Auxiliary Unit 52 General Continuing Education Scholarship - Due April 15, 2025
Alley-White American Legion Auxiliary Unit 52 is now accepting letters of application for one $1,000 general continuing education scholarship. All graduating high school seniors who attend school in Baxter County, including those who are home-schooled or attend private school, are eligible to apply. Letters of application must be postmarked no later than April 15, 2025. Applications postmarked after this date will not be considered for the award – no exceptions. In their letters, students must include all information specified below, plus proof that one of their parents, siblings, grandparents or great-grandparents is a military veteran (or currently on active duty). The DD-214 discharge document is preferred, but other proof will be accepted.
Master Chief Robert Howe Trade School Scholarship - Deadline Extended to April 25, 2025
Applicant must be accepted as a first year trade school student, a Mountain Home High School graduate class of 2025, a Baxter County resident, planning on a career within the area of study and training for which they are enrolled. Selection is based on the following: character, career plans, leadership potential, community involvement, financial need. If awarded the scholarship, the scholarship will be distributed after the successful completion of the first semester of study/training during the 2025-2026 training cycle.
Nancy Leulf Memorial Junior Auxiliary Scholarship - Due April 18, 2025
Applicants must be pursuing studies in fields which address the needs of children and youth. The applicant must be a graduating senior that lives in Baxter County, have a GPA of 3.0, have financial need, and have done community service. Must submit a completed application with a letter of recommendation, a letter written by the applicant, an essay, and a photo.
Oakland Area Improvement Association Scholarship - Due April 18, 2025
This scholarship application is open to any high school senior residing in the Oakland area, with two total scholarships being awarded. Applicants must have a C or better GPA; be in good standing with the high school; and attach two letters of recommendation to their application.

Baxter County Master Gardener’s Scholarship - Due May 1, 2025
This is a one-time $1,000 scholarship awarded annually to assist a student in the pursuit of a college degree in any field of study. Recipients may re-apply in succeeding years. A student must be a Baxter County resident, but the educational facility can be out of Baxter County. Applications must be received by May 1, 2025. This scholarship will be awarded by May 31, 2025. Student must be a full-time student. Checks awarded will be payable to the educational institution.
Max Atkinson Bomber Athletic Scholarship - Due May 1, 2025
Applicants should include senior male and female athletes with a GPA of at least 2.5 who plan to attend a college or vocational school after graduation. This $500 scholarship will be awarded to athletes who demonstrate a commitment to teamwork and embody the character traits that Max Atkinson, a dedicated supporter of Bomber Athletics for over 30 years, exemplified. Essay on the topic of “What It Means to Be a Member of a Team” required.
Cameo Club of Mountain Home Scholarship - Due May 6, 2025
This is a one time $500 scholarship for high school senior students who are going to further their education after high school. First Security Bank William H. Thompson Educational Scholarship - Deadline Extended to July 15, 2025
Only for students from Mountain Home, Cotter, and Norfork High Schools attending a vocational-technical school or trade school. Applicants will be selected based on the student's financial need. Must submit at least two reference letters from a school counselor or teacher, a transcript, a personal statement of why you should be selected to receive this scholarship, and your most recent federal income tax return*. (Note: If your parents/guardians claim you as a dependent, they will need to provide a copy of their most recent federal tax return.)
