Bomber Families,
We’re watching forecasts closely and will be in touch if necessary. We shared this back in December, but here’s a little reminder about our inclement weather procedures:
• We will do our best to make cancellation/delay decisions the night before, but as you know, sometimes that is not possible.
• If we have to cancel in the morning, we will do our very best to have that announcement to you all before our first bus is scheduled to take off around 5 a.m.
• If we need to run snow routes for our buses, a copy of those routes can be found here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1fRlENdg-GdHjW5P6520tVWk8hoLnazsr
• We will use our district’s alert system to make these announcements, so please make sure your child’s school has the correct phone numbers and email addresses on file. If you get our weekly update videos, we already have your correct information. We also update the local media of any closings, cancellations, delays, or early releases.
• If you do not hear from us – through our alert system or through local news outlets – that means we ARE having school.
• If we release school early due to inclement weather, we will send your child home in normal fashion. If you have alternate plans for your young children on early release days, please make sure their teachers are aware.
• If we release early, our Flight Crew program will not be open, so please make your child’s teacher aware of how they will be getting home.
Our calendar this year has five built-in snow days. There are no digital learning days, but if we miss five days or less this year, we will not have to make up any days. If we miss more than five days, we will use our emergency use days (in order) as they are listed on our district calendar, which is also available on our website.

Congratulations to Alexis McElroy and Maggie Barnes for progressing to FCCLA State STAR Events. They competed yesterday, January 19, in the Repurpose and Redesign Event at the College of the Ozarks.

On Thursday, the Mountain Home Special Olympics Pickleball Team competed in the first-ever Area 2 Pickleball Event hosted right here in Mountain Home!
A huge thank you to Legacy Racquet and Fitness for generously hosting Special Olympics and supporting our athletes, Major thanks to Centennial Bank for providing lunch for all those that participated!
Now it’s time to gear up for Basketball in February—we can’t wait for what’s next!

Bomber Update: Mrs. Dewey discusses the bus accident that happened last weekend, and she gives praise to all involved in the situation. https://youtu.be/1MeSlkCyIUE
Today Sgt. Britt Clements and TFC Clint Henderson of the Arkansas State Police visited Mr. Meurer's Foundations of Law Enforcement class. They spoke with students about accident investigation, explaining not only how it’s done, but why it’s done that way. They did an excellent job engaging the class and even had students using calculators to determine a vehicle’s speed. It was a great hands-on learning experience for everyone involved.

Welcome Back!

Attention seniors and senior parents/guardians! Have you completed your FAFSA yet? The FAFSA is a federal aid document that is required by all colleges and most trade schools. Have you completed your state aid scholarship application (SAMS)? There are many scholarships worth thousands of dollars that you might qualify for based on your GPA, ACT/Accuplacer score, field of study, and more, and the application only takes about 10 minutes. In addition, if you plan to go to ASUMH, both the FAFSA and state aid application are required to qualify for the Mountain Home Promise Scholarship, the local scholarship given by the Mountain Home Education Foundation that covers all remaining tuition costs not covered by other scholarships for MHHS graduates for up to two years.

Holiday Break Reminder: Last day of school -- December 19 (early release at 1 p.m.). Students return to classes on Tuesday, January 6.

First Security Bank reached out to the MHHS Art Department about painting Nativity Scene images at their 5 North location. Ten senior artists painted for 6 hours to complete this fantastic project.
From Mr. Hargett, art teacher: "The results were awesome. It's amazing to watch these kids work. Special thanks to Teresa Wehmeyer and Summerlynn Scalf and all at FSB for being very good to us!"
