The PSAT/NMSQT will be given at MHHS this year on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at 9:15 a.m. in the Dunbar Lobby.
How do I sign up to take the test?
Students must register in the MHHS front office by FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 26TH and must pay $18 when registering for the exam.
Why should students take the test?
Students who score high enough will be eligible to COMPETE FOR NATIONAL MERIT FINALIST SCHOLARSHIPS.
Student scores on standardized tests tend to improve each time they take a test, so it is a good practice for ACT testing.
Who can take the test?
Any sophomore or junior can take the PSAT for a cost of $18.00/student. There are fee waivers for those who qualify. Please contact shughes@mhbombers.com or ask Mrs. Partee for more information about fee waivers.
Students who take challenging courses, do their homework, prepare for tests and quizzes, ask and answer a lot of questions, and actively participate in class are the students who are most prepared to take the PSAT/NMSQT.
Sophomore students who take the test will gain insight on whether they should also take the test their junior year to be eligible as a National Merit Scholar.
What is the test like?
The PSAT/NMSQT includes a Reading test, Writing and Language Test, and a Math Test.
The testing session is approximately 2 1/2 hours and will be given during the school day on October 21, 2025 at 9:15 a.m. at MHHS. For additional information regarding the PSAT/NMSQT please visit the National Merit Website.
*Students who have current 504 or IEP plans who want to test with accommodations must contact shughes@mhbombers.com or Mrs. Partee by calling 870-425-1221 no later than Friday, August 29th
